The last few weeks have been and gone in a blur, and I’m kind of sad that it has gone so fast! I must admit, adapting to newborn life was hard in the beginning, but we now have our routine in place and its working wonderfully.
Caledon has been such a good baby, he eats well, sleeps well at night – and is generally an inquisitive little guy when he’s awake. He only cries when he’s hungry (usually every 3 hours, he’s like a little timer! Other times he’s cluster feeding during the night!) and when he has his nappy changed – but I’d cry too if it were me haha.
Every day there is something new I notice about him, his hair’s changed color, or he has a new cute sound to make. I have a lot of quirks I love about him – I especially love it when he is being burped and he makes this goat sound. Or when he’s hungry and he looks at me with a pout and a furrowed eyebrow – I call it the ‘Zoolander’ look. He could seriously give Derek a run for his money!!
His health is going well and he’s putting on weight slowly, which is great! But he’s still in his tiny premature clothes. Hopefully in the next few weeks he’ll have a growth spurt so he can wear all the cute outfits I bought for him! We had a cardiologist appointment recently and his valve has closed almost all the way, so that is very good news, but we still have to go back in 3 months to double check. We’re very happy with his progress, he still has a lot of catching up to do, but all in good time!
I love taking photos of him, there can never be TOO many photos! He’s just so gorgeous, and I’m completely smitten with him I cant help myself. Kane is also doing a little project of taking a photo of him everyday for a year to see the changes. It should be really interesting to see once finished 😀 The attached photos are of Cal at 19 days old.
Im loving being a mother. I never thought I’d know what to do with a baby having not been around them before, but its come really naturally and I enjoy every part of taking care of him. He’s the best part of our lives and I can’t wait to see what the next few months will bring!
